Not Carbonara
Honest review from an actual hiker - not a schoolkids' mother.
Taste is nowhere close to actual Carbonara. Pasta with traces of cheesy sauce, bacon and some veg.
Although very dissapointing in flavour (and I didn't have high expectations from a liofilisate) it's still edible on a trek. Really easy to prepare. Satisfying portion for a little boost without leaving you heavy (and I'm 93kg).
Perfect for DofE
Took this on my recent DofE Silver Expedition. It was perfect, lightweight and easily packed.
So easy to have a tasty, filling meal at the end of the day, would definitely recommend.
Nothing like carbonara, but excellent meal
Carbonara is my favourite Italian dish, and this is nothing like carbonara, but having said that it is a tasty pasta-based meal and went down a treat after a long day's ride in foul weather. Really recharges the batteries at the end of the day, and is so quick and easy to prepare. And no washing up!

Used these meals quite a few times... I particularly like using them in winter or when cold from kayaking, add the boiling water and then place inside jacket next to chest...as the meal hydrates you benefit from a really nice hot water bottle!
