Reasonably priced, simple design easy clean.
We brought this for our 2 year old son. So we didn't have to run across to the loos in the middle of the night. It has been a God send. So easy to line using bin liners and cheap nappies. It's very sturdy doesn't take up alot of room when packing and easy to empty and clean. I would highly recommend this to anyone with children or just hates heading out in the middle of the night for the loo and fab for wild camping.
AllWeatherCampers gave a great review that I saw after we returned from our VW campervan trip around the North of Scotland where public lavatories are few and far between. 2 black bin bags (in case one leaks) and pine-scented sawdust did the job perfectly. Not trying to be gross, but porta-potties aren't deep enough for an emergency "man jobbie", whereas this bucket is deep enough to allow for a large dump. It was well used in the middle of the night and in more than one lay-by on the road with the curtains drawn. Tip: Don't lift the bucket by the rim with fingertips near where the handles join and then lift the handle upright. The metal end nicked a chunk of skin out my finger in the Go Outdoors store while carrying it to the till - designers to note this.
We have two loo's, this being our second and back up (we usually use a portable flushable on long camps).
Very sturdy.
Tip: line it with bin bags and scoop in a little cat litter to reduce smells! This also makes it SO much easier, quicker and far more pleasant to empty / clean.
Any liquid will create condensation in the right circumstance, and with this bucket loo, you'll get condensation on the inside of the lid (as you will quickly realise you have no option than to keep the lid down) so use it sparingly and empty it daily at the very least!
I've not actually used the loo for the purpose it was made for as we managed to pitch near the toilets. I carried wine to the site inside so it was handy for that. Just sitting on the loo I found it to be verysturdy and the seats good and lid too. I got a great tip from a friend who has one to double bag it and add some cat litter. It's going to be handy if we pitch far from the toilets and will be handy at home for emergencys as we've only one toilet. Could have done with it at home when I was on crutches last year...
Just the job to turn your tent into one with ''en- suite'' Facilities , which is much needed in the early hours !
This was very good even for heavier weights people especially at night time
Even tho there were toilets on the camp site this was perfect for a 5am tinkle. Glad we bought it. Who would have thought a toilet would be a luxury item.
Easy to clean, use and store!
Great item . Easy to use and clean out comfy to sit on . Life saver in desperate hours .
Very convienient
Takes up a bit of space and is a bucket with a toilet seat but it is fit for purpose and the cheapest option without having to hover.
A godsend for night time toilet needs. Dos have a large sticker saying portable toilet on it which may put some off but didn't bother us as we bought for a purpose and it does this very well.
Small and light. Works a treat when lined with double thickness bin liner, some sawdust or cat litter and a little blue loo. Afterwards the bag can be sealed and thrown away. We'll worth the money.
Simple but worked a treat, extremely useful in middle of night & seat really very comfy. We've even used on car journeys!
Lined with double bin bags and a couple of nappies its easy to empty and no mess. No panicking about stumbling about in the dark to get to the site block in the night. Excellent.
The thought of night time toilet treks whilst camping led me to buy the Hi Gear Portable Travel Toilet. It's very basic - a bucket with a toilet seat and well fitting lid, but is perfectly fit for purpose. It's certainly easier than using an ordinary bucket. The one I bought doesn't have the 'toilet' label (mentioned by earlier reviewers) and is plain black. A great buy.
Found it perfect for the intended use. Good close fitting lid, lowish to sit on, but comfortable and stable.
Perfect for eliminating the night time tinkle trek to the toilet block. Comfy for sitting on, not too low and the seat accommodating. (Tip for boys: easier to sit on than aim into). Tightly fitting lid for no spillage when carrying to emptying point.
Excellent, agree with others, saves the middle of the night dash across the campsite, ideal for kids too.
The loo is ok, but have only given two star rating due to the huge plastic sticky label advertising what it is! The label is too difficult to remove because of its plastic coating.
