Although this is obviously better value than the expensive fire steels sold by the company it is still 1.5 times the price of the survival tin kit and in truth the fire starter is of inferior quality.

I’m heading up to Scotland on holiday shortly. My partner and I are staying in a cottage and will have all of the items we need available to us.
However, whilst there we will be going on a few walks around the area and possibly tackling some of the smaller peaks.
Being the man that I am, I managed to convince my partner that the danger of getting ‘lost’ in the wild without the means to get back to civilisation is very, very real.
I purchased this kit and then proceeded to inform my partner that I can now construct a shelter, make a fire, snare us some dinner and generally be ok for weeks just living off the land, if need be.
We would not just survive, we would thrive!

great item, i added a better aluminium whistle and more fire tinder and the kit was perfect for scouts.

This would be ok for a cub scout maybe but you wouldn't want to rely on this in a real survival situation the case has very flimsy clips and a majority of the items are Christmas cracker quality at best. Go for Go outdoors survival tin instead it's much better than this.

Pretty cheaply made, the clasps on the case snapped off literally a day or so after having them so is just sat in a drawer now, some of the bits inside are good to keep. Combined with a better quality box I purchase. Contents are ok, box not so much. Let's it down to be honest.
